Adamawa State Road Maintenance Agency Board Members, have conducted an inspection of ongoing maintenance work on Osibanjo way, popularly known as Faro/Adamawa Sunshine Road.

The inspection tour was part of the Agency’s mandate to ensure the readiness of Board Members, carry out the job responsibilities given to them by the state government for provision of quality road maintenance across twenty one local government areas of the state.

During the visit to the sites, the Board Members assessed the quality and progress of the maintenance work, emphasizing the importance of timely and efficient completion of the project for the benefit of the citizens.

The General Manager of ASRMA, Engr. Joshua Samuel, expressed optimism that Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has carefully selected Board Members that are professionals. Therefore, the Agency would never relent in providing quality maintenance work to the citizens. He also disclosed that the Agency would provide maintenance work on Karewa Road, Gasol Street, as well as Waziri Street.

On his part, the Board Chairman of the Agency, Engr. Garba Lyntapwa Gbiawan, mentioned some challenges they encounter, which according to him during their first sitting with the Honourable Commissioner of Works and Energy Development, Adamu Atiku Abubakar, he promised that with the caliber of professionals that were carefully selected by the Governor, the impact of the Agency would be felt by the people of state, but also solicited for their maximum cooperation.

Engineer Garba, also applauded the efforts of the General Manager and promised to work diligently for the benefit of the state inline with the urban renewal program of His Excellency RT. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

In their separate contributions during the inspection tour Mohammed H. Ahijo Member and Engr. Baba B. Wathada Member, appreciated the efforts of the General Manager and promised to give in their best for effective performance.

During the inspection, Governor Fintiri emphasized the importance of the bridge to the local population and assured residents of immediate action. “This bridge is essential for our people’s daily lives and our broader security strategies. We cannot afford any delays in its rehabilitation,” the Governor stated.

To expedite the repair work, the Adamawa State Government is partnering with the North East Development Commission (NEDC). This collaboration aims to ensure that the rehabilitation of the Waga Bridge begins without delay, restoring this vital infrastructure to full functionality.

Governor Fintiri’s commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for the people of Adamawa State remains steadfast. The swift action on the Waga Bridge underscores his administration’s dedication to addressing urgent needs and fostering sustainable development throughout the state.

Emphasizing the merit-based nature of their appointments, the SSG urged the appointees to diligently align their efforts with Governor Fintiri’s 8-point development agenda. In response, Mrs. Martina Abba, Chairperson of the Adamawa State Bureau for Public Procurement, expressed gratitude to His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for the appointment and pledged to justify the confidence placed in them.

The inaugurated Boards and Agencies include the Adamawa State Investment and Property Development Company, Adamawa State Bureau of Statistics, Adamawa State Bureau for Public Procurement, Adamawa State Boundary Commission, and Adamawa State Agency for Community and Social Development.

The state government is funding the cultivation of these improved crop varieties on a one-hectare plot of land in each LGA. The harvested crops will be distributed to farmers next year, providing them with high-quality seeds to improve productivity and build resilience against food scarcity.

These efforts are coordinated under the State Food Security Committee and led by Professor Bitrus Dawi Tarfa, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture Mubi. “This collaborative effort is crucial and timely in addressing the pressing food security challenges in Adamawa State,” said Prof. Tarfa.

The deployment and multiplication of these improved crop varieties are expected to significantly boost agricultural output, ensuring sustainable food production and economic stability for the state’s farming communities. This initiative marks a significant step towards achieving long-term food security and enhancing the livelihoods of farmers across Adamawa State.

“This road is not just an infrastructure project; it is a lifeline that will enhance connectivity, provide access to farmlands, schools, markets, and unlock numerous economic opportunities for our communities,” Governor Fintiri stated during the ceremony.

The Pella-Maiha Road is a testament to the Fintiri administration’s commitment to improving the state’s infrastructure and ensuring sustainable development. General Hananiya, while commissioning the road, praised the Governor’s dedication to the state’s development and emphasized the project’s importance for the local communities. The Federal Housing Estate Road Network project aligns with the state government’s broader agenda to foster development and ensure that all communities benefit from improved infrastructure. By enhancing the road network, the project aims to facilitate easier movement, boost economic activities, and improve access to essential services within the estate.

The commencement of this road project is expected to bring substantial benefits to the Bajabure community and its environs, contributing to the overall growth and development of Adamawa State.

This announcement was made by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barr. Awwal D. Tukur, in his office while receiving the report of the committee upon the completion of its mandate.

Barr. Awwal D. Tukur emphasized that the administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is dedicated to upholding standards at all levels. He disclosed that the Joint Task Force Committee was constituted to ensure proper compliance with regulations in public institutions and the owner-occupier scheme.

The SSG commended the committee for its diligence and professionalism in executing its mandate and assured of the government’s readiness to implement its recommendations.

In his remarks, Engr. John Vandu, the chairman of the committee, informed the SSG that they had fulfilled their mandate within the stipulated timeframe, overcoming challenges along the way. He expressed gratitude to God for the successful completion of the assignment.
